Gia has been born into an environment of music and dance. Constantly enveloped by the arts, she started her former classical training in Bharatanatyam at the tender age of four. She simultaneously began taking piano lessons and three years later, started learning Kathak as well. Progressively, Gia has been performing on several platforms as a solo performer or in group performances such as in home productions, Krishna Ashtami, Ganesha & Tatwa, and numerous dance dramas as Bhaktamar, Mahasati Maina-Sundari, Nemi-Rajul, Parshawanath etc.
Even though she is the youngest of her peers, she exudes a unique understanding beyond her years. Creative and extremely talented, Gia is growing into an exquisite dancer with training and performing experience that is continually enhancing her artistic abilities.
Currently, Gia is a sophomore at the prestigious Hunter College High School, in New York City. She is an active member of the South Asian Youth Alliance and Project 149, a community service club. An aspiring Girl Scout, she received her Silver award in 2015 for “Fun with Math for Kids” project and is working towards achieving her Gold award. Through Girl scouts, Gia found a surprising interest in Robotics and has participated in the 2014 VEX World Robotics Championship in California. Her other interests are reading, cooking, singing, playing piano and applying theatrical and SFX makeup.
Gia hopes to continue dancing and performing as well as assisting her mother in teaching. She also wishes to complete her course in Kathak, piano and singing.
